# Culling photos straight off the card

> Cooler shows the camera's own previews so you can reject the misses before importing anything.

After a day of shooting, the slow part isn't editing. It's getting rid of the misses. Most apps want you to import everything first, then wait while they decode raw files you're about to delete.

[Cooler](/cooler/) skips that. Insert the SD card and it opens straight to your shots, using the JPEG or HEIF preview the camera already embedded in each file. It loads the next frames ahead of you, so there's nothing to wait for.

## Keyboard only

- <kbd>X</kbd> rejects and moves on
- Arrows navigate
- <kbd>Z</kbd> zooms to 100%
- <kbd>⌘Z</kbd> undoes

Everything you don't reject stays. When you're done, you review the rejects and delete them from the card. Then you import the keepers with Photos or Lightroom as usual.

## Safe by default

Nothing is deleted until you've reviewed every reject. If you pull the card or quit halfway through, your decisions are waiting the next time you insert it.
